If both the letter of acceptance and telegram of revocation arrive at the same time: 1. Revocation received first: If the revocation is read first (i.e., the recipient reads the telegram before the letter of acceptance), the offer is considered revoked, and no contract is formed, even if the letter of acceptance was received at the same time. 2. Acceptance received first: If the letter of acceptance is read first, then a contract is typically considered formed, as the acceptance is the final act in completing the agreement. The revocation (even though it arrives at the same time) is generally not valid because the offer has already been accepted. The point about the revocation being absolute if both arrive at the same time typically assumes that the acceptance and revocation are both read simultaneously or are in such close succession that the revocation is considered to take priority. In reality, the scenario where both the letter of acceptance and the telegram of revocation arrive at the exact same moment is quite rare, and practically speaking, a person can only read one document first. As a result, the outcome largely depends on the order in which the documents are read. The legal principle is generally that the first document read will determine whether the offer is accepted or revoked.
