Let A and B be the two roots of the eqn Its mentioned that one root is the reciprocal of the other therefore, A=1/B Which implies AB=1 -------eqn1 Also we know Prod of roots AB=c/a c=y and a=5 AB=y/5 ------eqn2 Equate eqn 1 and eqn 2 We can say that, y/5=1 Therefore y=5.
