As it is is mentioned that this item is to be written off and only 17500 are written off so cost price of that item was 50000 minus 17500 32500 remaining to written off as this item was to be written off in previous year and does not constitute stock of this year so it is written off

It's because it's an abnormal item which causes a rapid rises the profit ..may be

Bcoz they are abnormal items and they need to be subracted from total to get normal items
