When you deposit a cheque which is too old or passes the date mentioned on it, it becomes a cheque which is out of date. When we deposit it in the account it does not increase the bank balance but for you,i.e the firm have increased the bank balance in the cash book. In the question the cheque was re dated which means a new cheque was drawn and deposited on a later date which is after the date on which you are preparing the BRS. So you have increased the balance when you were not supposed to hence you will less (credit) the amount.

An out of date cheque that the cheque had passed the date of deposit which means it has passed 3 months of making it and due to which it cannot be cleared. The customer then reissued the cheque for us. So in this the amount will be CREDITED as before the month ends.
